Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) Treatment

As an examined and certified Cranio-Sacral Therapist at Naturgaarden v/Tove Nielsen, we at AZ Horse Wellness are excited to be able to offer our customers Cranio-Sacral Therapy, which is part of osteopathy and a gentle form of chiropractic.

Though, at AZ Horse Wellness we mainly work with energy rather than the physical manipulation itself.

A CST treatment includes among others as follows:

* Gait analysis

* Palpation

* Balancing of the Cranio-Sacral system

* Loosening of Diaphragms

* Loosening of connective tissue (fascia)

* Loosening of muscles, ligaments and tendons.

* Review of bones and joints

* Check and correction of tongue bone and jaw join

* etc.

In CST, you mainly work with bones and connective tissue as well as the cerebrospinal fluid. Although it is called Cranio-Sacral, it is not only the skull and sacrum that you work with, but rather you can use it all over the body.

WHEN WOULD IT BE BENEFICIAL TO GET A CST TREATMENT?

Cranio-Sacral Therapy can be helpful with problems such as behavioral problems, possibly traumas, injuries including old injuries, stress, tightness in muscles and connective tissue (fascia), etc.

Since it is mainly an energy-based way of working with the horse, you can also call it a form of healing CST is generally good if you sense that something just doesn't feel right.

To get the most out of its CST treatment, we recommend that the horse be given the day off after treatment. In the event that you have a masseur out to treat your horse before a possible chiropractic treatment, we recommend that you check with your masseuse, if they are also a trained Cranio-Sacral therapist. As a trained Craniosacral therapist, you can correct crookedness in the horse's skeleton, which means that in some cases you could be able to avoid chiropractic treatment.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY HORSE GET A CST TREATMENT?

It can be an advantage to have regular CST treatment for your horse, as it can help to correct any crookedness, keep the connective tissue loose and etc. and thus prevent problems, at the same time it is easier for a Cranio-Sacral therapist to correct dysfunctions before the horse compensates too much in the body. Once the horse begins to compensate and the proprio has settled, there is a greater chance that the problem (for example, a crooked pelvis) will return and thus may require more treatments.

At AZ Horse Wellness we recommend that you regularly have your horse checked by CST, in order to catch any problems in advance and thus prevent crookedness, joint problems, stress, etc. from developing.

If you have a horse in moderate/hard training or if it tends to have problems with crookedness, 1 treatment per month is recommended. With light to no training, we recommend CST once every 2-3 months or when the owner feels that it is needed.
